Project Overview

A new venture backed by seasoned pros in the shipping industry, All Pro Shipping (APS) came to us for help in creating a family of eCommerce sites that would serve the needs of niche shipping customers and small businesses.

And when they told us they wanted to start by putting snakes on a plane (ShipYourReptiles.com), how could we not be excited?

Foraker Labs worked to integrate this Ruby on Rails application with industry-standard shipping web services on the back end to allow users to purchase and print shipping labels. We also created an easy-to-use and secure eCommerce application to allow customers to buy shipping supplies (e.g. boxes, heat packs, insulation, etc.).

Also important was the client’s need for a seamless administrative interface that would enable the APS team to manage site content, automate invoice generation and delivery, and provide reporting tools for monitoring business processes in real-time.

In addition to a rock solid and secure web application, the graphic design for the sites had to be professional, trust-inspiring, and allow for brand sharing with the addition of new niche sites in the APS family.

Foraker Labs designed, built, and launched the initial application release in under 12 weeks, and 4 additional niche sites (all managed through the same administrative application) have followed this initial launch.
