Project Overview

This Boulder-based non-profit organization provides education and training to returning military veterans and their families—to help smooth the transition from the war theater to being home with family.

After suffering through a design and development project that proved unnecessarily burdensome, ONE Freedom needed a vendor that would listen to their needs, think through the issues, and deliver a powerful technology platform with no strings attached.

In addition to a secure, powerful, and easy to use content management system for the public website, ONE Freedom’s unique organizational needs demanded a highly customized and integrated system that included modules for donations, contact management, workshop enrollment, surveying, and ecommerce.

Foraker Labs worked closely with ONE Freedom staff during the Initial Workshop to craft an application that would fit the organization’s immediate and near-term needs, and stay flexible enough to allow for future enhancements down the road.

A custom Ruby on Rails application was built to seamlessly integrate the organization’s many needs. Special attention was paid to usability and accessibility since veterans of our overseas wars are more likely to be challenged by motor skill or cognitive disabilities. This powerful web application lets ONE Freedom run their organization with efficiency and accuracy—allowing them to focus on their mission instead of cumbersome technology.
