Project Overview

Teachers’ Curriculum Institute (TCI), is a unique K–12 social studies publisher. Over the past 3 years, Foraker Labs built TCI a revolutionary online learning and teaching system—but with success comes new challenges. TCI found that they needed a comprehensive and highly usable subscription and account manager that would handle thousands of schools and districts, and tens of thousands of teachers and students.

We used an agile development process to design and develop SAM – Subscription Account Manager. We worked with TCI to prioritize the most critical functionality first, and delivered a solution in less than 3 months.

SAM has multiple security tiers for TCI administrators, district administrators and school administrators. It allows these users to manage every aspect of their account subscriptions to TCI’s TeachTCI and LearnTCI systems, including teachers, students, class rosters, and product licenses.

It’s built in Ruby on Rails, hosted by TCI on Linux servers and versioned in GitHub. Tightly-managed source control, disciplined branching, and a continuous integration environment make this ongoing work seamless and efficient.
