Foraker launches redesigned Breastcancer.org website
(Boulder, CO) June 23, 2008—On Monday, June 23, 2008, Foraker, a Boulder, Colorado-based custom web development firm, launched a complete redesign of the world's most heavily-trafficked breast cancer information website, Breastcancer.org.
Foraker has been working with Breastcancer.org (www.breastcancer.org), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the most reliable and up-to-date medical information about breast cancer, since September 2000.
The relaunched site is the culmination of substantial technical, usability and graphic design work, including over two years of intensive audience research. The redesign features the facilitation of efficient changes to the website interface and navigation and showcases a new logo and brand developed by Siegel+Gale (www.siegelgale.com).
Three rounds of usability testing were conducted at Foraker’s state-of-the-art usability lab prior to launch. Participants explored the site’s information architecture, Community areas, terminology and user interface. Testing results, supplemented by knowledge gained from personas, expert reviews and other user centered design techniques, informed many of the changes.
The Discussion Boards—which are custom-developed, interactive forums within the site’s Community area—were also redesigned, incorporating many of the commonly requested features identified by user research.
The redesign also provided the interface flexibility necessary to pave the way for personalization efforts that will involve surfacing highly relevant breast cancer information to women and their loved ones at critical points in their path through the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
We’re proud to improve Breastcancer.org's ability to carry out its mission of reaching people who have been affected by this disease at any time of the day or night. This website is a milestone in the evolution of trustworthy, accurate online health information, and we look forward to pushing even further in the coming months,” says Derek Olson, Vice President of Foraker.
